In a heartwarming display of community spirit and dedication, students from the Sixth Form at Colfox Academy have raised over £1,000 for Cancer Research during their annual 'RAG' week. This year's fundraising activities, which took place at the end of the term, included a variety of engaging events designed to foster teamwork and creativity, while also making a significant contribution to a cause that resonates deeply with many. RAG, an acronym for 'raising and giving', is a cherished tradition at Colfox Academy, where students come together to support various charitable initiatives. Each year, the Sixth Form students select a charity to benefit from their efforts, and this year, the focus was on Cancer Research, a decision that reflects the personal connections many students have with the disease. Oliver and Toby, the dynamic Head Students responsible for orchestrating the week's activities, shared their sentiments about the experience. "It was hard work organising all the fundraising activities for RAG week, but it was so worth it in the end," they remarked. Their enthusiasm was echoed by peers, who embraced the opportunity to contribute to a cause that touches so many lives. Adam Teasdale, Head of the Sixth Form, highlighted the legacy of RAG week at Colfox, stating, "We have a RAG week every year and have donated to a range of charities historically. This year, students wanted to raise funds for a large national charity after donating to local charities last year." His comments underscore the thoughtful approach the students take in selecting their charitable endeavors, as they aim to balance local support with broader national contributions. Among the events that captivated the student body were an 'Escape Room' challenge, where participants showcased their problem-solving skills, and a festive 'Bake Off Challenge' that added a holiday cheer to the fundraising efforts. The traditional candy cane deliveries and the sale of the RAG magazine further contributed to the impressive total raised. This year's RAG week not only provided a platform for students to engage in meaningful fundraising activities, but it also fostered a strong sense of camaraderie and purpose within the school community. As the students reflect on their accomplishments, the impact of their efforts extends far beyond the £1,000 raised; it serves as a reminder of the power of collective action in supporting vital causes.
