In a heartwarming initiative aimed at providing vital support to individuals affected by endosulfan exposure, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) organized artificial limb camps in the Puttur and Belthangady regions. Held on December 18, 19, and 20, the camps were a collaborative effort involving the Jaipur Foot organization and the Dakshina Kannada District Health Department. During these impactful events, a total of 72 individuals received artificial limbs, a gesture that aims to restore mobility, independence, and hope to those who have faced significant challenges due to the adverse effects of endosulfan pesticide. This initiative, part of MRPL's ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility under its Arogya Samrakshan Scheme, was executed with a budget of ₹12 lakh, highlighting the company’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for the most vulnerable members of the community. The camps not only provided physical rehabilitation but also served as a beacon of hope for families grappling with the long-term consequences of chemical exposure. Beneficiaries and their families expressed profound gratitude towards MRPL, recognizing the life-changing impact of the support they received. MRPL's Chief General Manager (HR), Krishna Hegde Miyar, emphasized the company's philosophy of giving back to the communities they serve. "At MRPL, we believe that corporate social responsibility is about addressing pressing social issues," he stated, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in improving lives. In addition to the artificial limb camps, MRPL also made a significant contribution to local healthcare by donating 64 ECG machines to Primary Health Centres and Namma Clinics in Dakshina Kannada. This further underscores the company’s holistic approach to community welfare, aligning health services with the essential needs of the population. As the artificial limb camps concluded, the transformation in the lives of the beneficiaries served as a poignant reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the profound impact of community support. The events not only marked a significant step towards rehabilitation for those affected but also reinforced the importance of corporate involvement in social welfare, setting a precedent for future initiatives aimed at empowering individuals and families in need.
